THE WOLF’S UNEASY RETURN TO GERMANY

In the Bory Dolnośląskie, or Lower Silesian Forest, a huge interconnected area of woodland that crosses the border of Poland and Germany, Julius Purcell and myself went in search of the story of how wolves have found their way back into every country in western Europe apart from the UK. These wild animals are now living in densely populated areas alongside towns and villages. We wanted to find out how they arrived and what is their current relationship with humans.

This was a recording trip for Julius’ series of audio documentaries about large animals in Europe for The Rewilding Institute, USA.

For the wolf episode I helped out with logistics, additional interviews, editing advice and field photography.
