A SMALL DREAM FOR "DORSET MOON"

3 FESTIVAL EVENTS COMBINING DANCE AND PROJECTION

"Dorset Moon" was a one-off festival in the summer of 2019 to mark the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11’s moon landing in 1969. Over three weeks and in three stunning locations, we presented an Indian female journey to the moon with each show developing the story. All three events were accompanied by Luke Jerram’s spectacular 7-metre diameter hanging sculpture “The Museum of the Moon”

A SMALL DREAM had three chapters:

BIRTH - On the hottest day of the year, our character, Chandini, began her slow journey on Bournemouth beach and then made a slow walk through the city as if experiencing a new world for the first time.

JOURNEY - Chandini continued her journey in Sherborne Abbey, the ‘Cathedral of Dorset’ dating back to AD 705. Footage of her choreography was projection-mapped into the masonry of the church together with a specially composed soundtrack including voices from Bournemouth.

ARRIVAL - The story culminated with a bespoke performance at Nothe Forte, Weymouth. The audience, wearing wireless headsets, looked down from the ramparts to watch a combination of contemporary dance and large-scale projection in the fort’s parade ground.
